RIP John Stapleton

A stalwart of British journalism has died. Aged 79. He presents so many programmes, I remember him on The Time The Place which was mid morning student telly back in the 90s.

He died of complications with Parkinson’s. This hits hard for me as my dad is 78 with Parkinson’s.

My Dad, a very keen cyclist for decades, died 7 years ago, ages 79 too, after battling Parkinsons for 15 years.

Or John Staplegun as Roland Rat used to call him. Nice guy, good journalist, wish there were more people like him on tele. RIP

Not having a TV licence it took me a while for the dusty memories to resurface and remember who he was.

Yes, a nice, well turned out, chirpy yet steady presenter of the old school. Wouldn't have caught him wearing a suit without a tie.
