Getting old but not past it
Last October we booked a holiday in Crete with Thomson Holidays for next month. Got an email from Thomson today asking if we want to reserve our seats on the plane for £9.50 each and each way . They want another £39 just for the privilege! They can stick it where the sun don't shine. They have to provide seats so I will sit somewhere on their plane at no extra charge . They try and charge you for any little thing now don't they? Greedy bastards!! We have paid good money for our holiday and I am not giving Thomsons another penny.

Ride It Like You Stole It!
My missus is looking to book a week away for her and my daughter and some are charging extra per kilo for luggage. No luggage allowance in the package holiday. WTF is that about

That is not a rip off, it is a choice. What does it matter if you do end up sitting next to somebody who should have booked two seats and has not washed for a week. Have a good holiday. Personally I find flying is good value for money, £35 return last year to the South of France, cheaper than a train trip to London.

On a tangent, a work mate just bought a new bathroom suite. The tag on the bath said "This bath just £250" bargain! But then the salesman added in the cost of the waste, the feet, the valance, the overflow, and the taps then suddenly it was £600.

Same thing though, get you with the headline then work up the real cost on the non-optional optional extras.

KLM / Air France have started offering 'upgrades' for varying prices on some seats that were free a couple of months ago. You can 'upgrade' to a seat nearer the front of the section (no extra leg room or anything) so you can get off it quicker, the double outer seats at the rear where the plane narrows instead of 3 across. Basically anything they can get away with. And thats not even the premium ecomomy seats.

That's a bloody rip off.

I suggest you train as a pilot, so you're guaranteed the best seat every time.

I've just had the same problem with British Airways, I booked a return ticket from Shanghai to Heathrow and asked for an aisle seat each way, they said no problem so long as I pay an extra £40 each way. This is the first and last time I will use them as for the last 25 years I've only flown Cathay Pacific and with them you can always choose your seat at the time of the booking at no extra cost.

Why don't they make the plane out of the same stuff they make the black box with, that always survives a crash?

Last holiday I went on was worth Thomson, and we had similar. Being stingy I opted to gamble too.

On the actual day, when booking in was offered a "extra leg room" seat at the 'special price' of £5 each. We took it, so for half the price got seats that I couldn't have reserved anyway!
