I must admit to not listening to Ozzy and Black Sabbath as I always thought it was not to my tastes. ...

Same here for many years, having only heard Paranoid, Snowblind and Bark at the moon as a tween and nothing more until I was about 30 years old and became enlightened. Hearing stuff like Fluff, Laguna Sunrise and Planet Caravan made me realise that Sabbath were much more than just a heavy metal band.

Planet Caravan...wonderful track, quite haunting.

I had the joy of seeing Sabbath live in 1970 when Paranoid was first released.
It was at the Black Prince, on the A2, Bexley.
Typical pub function room of the time; licensed for probably 100..Must have been 500 of us crammed into it for the evening 😂
Eternal memory of my youth..

RIP Ozzie 😔

The more I think about it, (and i know I'm stating the obvious for.many people) his loss is.monumental. Almost the founding father of heavy metal, he.must have been a massive influence on many that came adter, despite his excesses, as far as we know, he never acted i a way that was abhorrent or disrespectful, a genuine.nice fella it seems to me.
As the mornings gone on and you think about it, the sadder i feel...
I'm not sure the loss of any musician has made me feel that way

I wouldn't call myself a big Ozzy/Sabbath fan, but you've really nailed it with that bold text.
There was a period where I wrote him off as "the drunk/dopey ex-rockstar in that reality show with his tedious american family"; but in hindsight he wasn't doing any harm even then, and lots of people loved watching those programmes! The pleasure his music has given many many people is in another league altogether.

A life well lived. He won't be forgotten.
