Too many of my musical heroes are going to Valhalla. Phil Lynott, Lemmy, now Ozzy. I just pray the likes of Geddy Lee and Mark Knopfler aren't in a hurry to join them.

Planet Caravan...wonderful track, quite haunting.

I'll admit Ozzy and Sabbath have never been very much on my radar for their music, always appreciate what he / they did for the genre though. That being said, there are some outstanding tracks that I do enjoy, Planet Caravan is right up there near the top of the list 🤘

I've started to listen to music on the way into and out of work last week. On my last day into work I was listening to the BBC rock show on sounds and the first track was 'Mama I'm coming home'. And then he died.

I must admit to not listening to Ozzy and Black Sabbath as I always thought it was not to my tastes. It is and it isn't. The thing is I thought it was just the usualy heavy metal stuff he did but I realised that with Mama song he had other sides too. A musical talent and not strict genre defined. I guess that track and others I heard on the same and other rock shows on sounds makes me realise so called heavy metal has more to it that loud guitar riffs and some guy screaming into the microphone. There is more to it and I think, from what I have recently heard from Black Sabbath, that with some bands there is much more to it than that.

So thank you Ozzy for your and your band's music. I now have something to explore that is new to me and missed first time around.

PS whilst the last performance of Ozzy had to be like it was, I do think it is a shame that the energy of him on stage will be linked with his last performance, a contrast that is strong but with his health neccessary for him to say goodbye on his terms (as much as his health allowed). A life lived I reckon and right up to the end. RIP (although I fully expect him to be tearing it up in the next plane of existence - if there is one - until he is joined by Sharon that is!!).

Think mama song by lemmy?

All these old rockers dying - I'm getting paranoid.
As more of those musicians I enjoyed die makes me more aware of time limitations and that I don't have as much left as I like and need to push on, do stuff and not let my limited time just drift by.

I really likes Black Sabbath (saw them in concert more than once). Also like a lot of Ozzy's solo stuff but never saw any of his solo concerts.

True, me and a couple of mates who go to gigs (mainly played by bands who were around when we were younger) also try to adopt the 'see them before they die' approach - worked once with the Buzzcocks as Pete Shelley kicked the bucket less than a year after we saw them play. Sadly too late for some others, would have had to have been even older to catch those!

I would say he had a good life. He pretty much invented heavy metal and that is a legacy I'm glad he realized before he died.
Not dissing Ozzy in the least but Black Sabbath, not Ozzy, pretty much invented heavy metal.

Where would rock be had Tony Iommi not chopped the tips of his fingers off at work?

The more I think about it, (and i know I'm stating the obvious for.many people) his loss is.monumental. Almost the founding father of heavy metal, he.must have been a massive influence on many that came adter, despite his excesses, as far as we know, he never acted i a way that was abhorrent or disrespectful, a genuine.nice fella it seems to me.
As the mornings gone on and you think about it, the sadder i feel...
I'm not sure the loss of any musician has made me feel that way

I stumbled across a video on You Tube, where Ozzy was introduced to Paul McCartney, he was genuinely star struck, and in so many words said it was his love of The Beatles that set him on his career in music

Gone a bit crazy in Birmingham at the moment.

Saw four of the 7 official memorial sights (as per the leaflet given to me at the entrance to the Birmingham Museum and Art Galary) yesterday.
1. Ozzie the Bull at Birmingham New Street. A bit strange, this, as the bull was designed and built for the Commonwealth Games. Only got given the name "Ozzy" later on on popular vote. But a few flowers left at his feet.
2. Mural on the wall over New Street Station. Four old blokes decided to add their own "art work" to it. But I suppose that, compared to their behaviour earlier in their life, is very much forgiveable. Lots of flowers, barriers, attendants and lots of people seemingly on the verge of the Blue Rinse brigade period of their life who wouldn't look out of place with a rolled-up copy of the Daily Mail under their arms, looking misty eyed.
3. Pictures in the blacked up windows of the Crown Pub, Birmingham, where Black Sabbath were the house band. Slightly grates, in that the property owners are desperate to knock the place down and build something that will make them some more money, but ruin the spirit that makes city centre living so attractive. More flowers.
4. BM&G, as above. Didn't join the queue for the book of rememberence - might have lost a good chunk of the day had I done so. Nice walking around the rest of the art gallery playing "Metal Head or Art Gallery Fan". I guess a working-class lad from Aston would never have dreamed that he would be bringing great crowds into the biggest Art Gallery / museum in Birmingham. There might be a number of of Pre-Raphaelites that are wondering if they took the wrong path. No flowers.

Missed the Black Sabbath bench, Ozzy lego statue in Selfridges and outdoor photo exhibition which is just a couple of minutes from the desk where I type this, and 90 seconds of which are catching the lift to the ground floor.
