Friends and myself have been on the receiving end of some of Pete's barbs concerning our record and clothing choices in Probe (record shop) when we were kids! Once he called me a little plastic punk!

The guy was a genuine one off.
RIP

We used to go in and look for Joy Division 12" singles. He never had any!
Say what you like, but he lived a life.

No doubt as to the name of the band now.

He must have been troubled by demons most of his life : the pursuit for perfection.

RIP

Used to see him loads in town. Surprised to see Probe is still going somewhere else, I thought it had long gone.

Jeez, the curse of 2016 continues.

Indeed. My wife met him quite regularly over the last few years, she's in the medical research business and he was often in her clinic. He'd led a challenging life that's for sure, but she tells me that he was very decent to talk to as he had his fag breaks outside. I think life dealt him a pretty poor set of cards to start with, and he'd probably be the first to admit that he played them badly too. It's a real shame to see him go that young, quite a character.

PS: On threads like this, it reminds me how nice it would be to have a "dislike" button. A man's died relatively young, and some find it appropriate to dish out the pithy comments.
If you have nothing nice to say, it's still an option to say nothing.

I'm ( a bit) too young to tell pete burns at probe / eric's stories but I heard them second-hand from my mate's big sister and cousin Pauline.
Half my teenage Saturdays were spent in Probe, riffling through obscure 60s punk/garage/psych. It was still a bit scary/exciting tripping up those steps in the mid-late 80s but Bob from the Walking Seeds didn't have quite the intimidating presence of Pete, i'm sure.
