I heard it came to a full stop
I think he avoided his other brother Semi, actually.

I still have a kitchen/dining table I bought in Habitat in Tottenham Court Road, central London, about 40 years ago.

Simple black finish, but there is some design in that it folds in half length ways to function as a simple sideboard.

Ikea is packed full of modern designed furniture these days, but even as recently as the 1980s that type of furniture was not available other than in a few designer shops in London.

The difference with Habitat was some of the prices were affordable to an average wage earner.

It's hardly overstating the case to say that he single-handedly transformed the British 'indoors', not least by doing the groundwork for IKEA. The John the Baptist to IKEA's Messiah, you might say.
