If you were the rider going through red lights at Nessgate towards Low Ousegate today about 11:45, then I was the pedestrian carrying a baby that shouted at you, "Red lights mean YOU stop, pillock!"

He'd filtered down the left of a bus, just at the lights before a tight left hand bend. Shock surprise, there are pedestrians in the middle of the road for him to avoid. He didn't see them because his vision was obstructed by the bus. And if he had been filtering down the side of the bus and the lights had been green, then we all know what happens to 'Cyclists' that do that!!

Oh, I wish I'd been there too, I could have given him a shove while you had you hands full...

(it wasn't me, I hope that would be self evident... I was in Sainsburys at the time)

Was he one of those chavs on an MTB, or one of the ones who are dressed in kit that implies they should know better?

Hope you had a good time in York. It's not the sanest place on public holidays.

Low Ousegate is basically why I never cycled through the town centre, it's awful.

Could have been, had had a dark trackie on, but he was minus the sweat-stained BB cap, so I thought not.

He wasn't a 'proper' cyclist, just one of the knobs that thinks weaving in and out of traffic and peds is 'cool'

It's not cool, and he's still a pillock.

Would automatically think student, but most of the little angels are home for easter.

That junction is a nasty one, the amount of folks I have nearly wiped out driving/riding through there late at night is unreal, especially coming from the Gallery end.

As a side note, York bus drivers are some of the worst I have ever seen.

give his wheel a good kick as he goes past

A bit harsh... would never intentionally damage someones bike (unforgivable really), an outstretched arm across the chest/throat is more of a compromise dont you think? ;)
