Whats MIB btw? I'd be tempted to contact the council. Atleast let them know theres deisel about.

Motor Insurers Bureau. It's run by the insurance industry to pay out if a driver is uninsured or untracable. If you have car insurance, some of the premium goes to them.

The same should be said for potholes and other obstructions and dangers. I have found myself walking my route and logging these many times this year - and if I'm being very honest most of this wouldnt happen if it wasnt for poorly maintained cars (well not potholes obviously). It takes ages to fill out all the council webpages tbh but they usually do, eventually, get around to it.

One of the things that annoys me is when a driver has a prang and leaves all the bits in the road! Excuse me, you're meant to take that with you. And the many cars here that have been seen leaking oil, deisel and petrol is shocking - I can only hope it has an MOT

Solihull Council have only recently come to realise it is less expensive to get a road repair crew to patch a pot-hole, than pay out a queue of cyclists and motorists for wheel damage.

If you see a pot-hole, photo it with the location clearly visable and give it to the Council offices. Get a receipt !! or at least a note of acceptance from the Council officer.

Better still report it via the CTC website, as then the report will have independent verification, and is accessible for other cyclists who might have been injured, and want to sue.

Thanks to everyone that added to this post.
Took the bike to lbs (Exmouth cycle hire) who sorted out the STI and re-taped the bars, fitted the two tyres and tubes I`d ordered from Chain Reaction, straightened out small buckles in front and rear wheels and also supplied and fitted front and rear brake pads.
Total price? £23.98!!!!! TOP BLOKE!!!!
I`ve worn a hand splint for a week now and will be going out on the bike for the first time tomorrow. If everything is fine then I can get back to decent riding again next
week.
