I'd like to see Lee defending the HGV driver in that footage like he did HGV drivers in general on the HGV topic a few months ago - it's clear the driver overtook her and then left hooked her.

Agreed.

I want to know what happened with the stroppy courier.

He was given his £30 fixed penalty and told to be a good boy iirc. I think they said later on in the program (the guy has put up the rest in parts I see)

'kin hell.

Shots of cyclists going through traffic free junctions with oh-such-a serious voiceover about how dangerous it is, then the real danger is shown - 'kin drivers who don't give a toss, and they're not getting nicked. Brilliant.

Why are you changing your mind? He said in his post timed at 19:04 that it was clear the HGV overtook and left hooked the cyclist and you agreed with him.

So now why are you saying the above?

I made a mistake and I shouldn't have agreed as it isn't clear why it happened.Obviously he didn't do it deliberately so perhaps he didn't see the cyclist.

Anyway the mother isn't to impressed with the lorry driver as she has bought up shares in the company to get into the boardroom.

Yes it looks like a left hook but who knows why left hooks happen?

The first still shows the mixer behind the cyclist, and the next ones show it progressively further ahead. I've seen the original footage on TV, and it's very clear that it's an overtake and left hook, not an undertake by the cyclist.

Lee, it's pointless arguing with you on this, as you are both hopelessly biased and immune to logic on this particular issue.

Is this the same sort of bias as with Hi-Viz vests?;)

Actually I thought when you quoted as you are both hopelessly biased I thought you meant me as well.

I thought I had to change my opinion to neutral as,as you said User3143 I have hardly seen any film of the incident so I cannot fully be sure.

How? There is only two stills of that incident. One is of the truck and cyclists side by side and the other is at the point of contact. So how is it clear?

I have seen the video on the news. The road is quite long enough for the driver to have come up from behind and CCTV did appear to show that. 5.16 in that video shows him approaching from behind, very briefly but you see it.

Hackers has already said he made a mistake, I suppose hoping that from you really is hopelessy lost and immune to logic.

Yes as im saddened by what happened to the cyclist but looking at the very little film and making yet another judgment here by saying I don't think it was deliberate but a terrible accident. Why it happened I don't know.Even the courts didn't do the driver did they?

Actually I never insinuated that it wasn't anything but an accident.I can't believe a lorry driver would want a "fatality" like this.

Ok fair enough, but where is the phone box?

The stills show the driver at the point of overtake (black & white) and then immediately cuts to the colour stills which show no phonebox.

My point is that (I think) two seperate incidents of overtaking were shown.

There was a more extensive video on the BBC news website. I've tried going on there tonight but my internet is going bananas and slow. If its still there have a look. There were also various articles on this (2006 iirc - its quite a famous case and caused a LOT of outrage at the time) from the tabloids and broad sheets.

On 3:14 that cyclist really goes into one doesn't he?

But he broke the law and got caught.

Just looking through that video again
