There I was the other day, riding my usual commute when I noticed something at the side of the road. It's a sign that tells you how fast you're going. This sign hasn't worked for months, so as I went past it registered me as doing 14mph. Looked at my cycle computer and that confirmed it.

Pity it doesn't catch me going the other way as I'm normally doing about 20mph.

It made me smile :hugs:

have one of those on my commute home.
On a nice downhill stretch... fastest so far is 36mph.
Would go faster but on a turn and wary of cars coming from other direction.
Funny think is I only noticed it for the first time the other day.

There used to be one of those in one of the villages I cycle through on my commute, but it’s been taken away. Shame, I quite liked seeing how high I could get it.

Something to work on then... :hugs:

The ones that tell you how fast you are going are gradually being removed in some parts of the country. Boy racers were challenging each other to get the highest speed.

I like to trigger the '30' slow down signs!

I dream of doing that, however the two in my village are both on uphill stretches so no hope of me doing it in the near (or far future)

Infact, if I am being honest would like to hit 30mph at any point on my commute - 29.4 and 29.6 have been my best so far

Fastest recorded on one in my neck of the woods was 98mph. 30 limit, straight road, but multiple minor roads off.....

We had one of those at work to monitor drivers speeds, it displayed your speed and if you was over the 20 limit you got a sad face as well, instead of a smiley face. It was also capable of recording the speed and at what time.

Well I always looked forward to it being left out one night so I could "borrow" it and for a couple of nights it was. So whilst out on patrol I positioned it so I could drive as fast as I could past it, but it was not that sucesfull, but I then discovered that if it was on the passengers seat facing forward it would detect everything from lamp posts to tree's and parked cars to lorries on the vehicle park. What a hoot I had for a couple of nights racing round at work, whilst it flashed constantly with high speeds and a sad face.

Makes me wonder what they thought when they downloaded all the info, a few hundred cars all doing way over the limit for an hour, one behind the other and at 0300 in the morning when normally there is just one or two vehicles. Oddly enough they stopped using it just afterwards and got another one which was too big to put in a car, probably thought it had gone haywire.
