I have a Specialized Vice helmet MTB helmet.

I am only into road cycling. I was wondering if I should buy a road helmet for safety reasons?

For safety reasons - no.

For aesthetic reasons - possibly.

It makes no difference. Except with a lower front end on a road bike the peak of your MTB helmet may mean you lifting your head up more.
If you are comfortable and happy wearing it then carry on so.

What you need is a flow chart:
does the peak cause you problems on a road bike?
Yes - buy a road based helmet
No - use the one you've got

I have two bash hats; a 'normal' one for commuting and a Fox HS for city work. It's more of a BMX style, but as in town, most of the things that my head is likely to hit are going to be hard, as oppose to verges and grassy banks, I think the thicker outer shell is worth the difference.
But that's just my personal take on it.

There's no techncial or physical reason why you shouldn't carry on with your current lid. The self appointed style windbags might let you know about it though.

Chances are your current helmet will be manufactured to satisfy the same standard as any other you buy (BSEN1078) so it won't matter from a safety aspect. If you want a higher standard then look for a helmet that's met the Snell B90 specifcation.
