Remember this Robinsons Intl video?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X37NFXSj2iI

I got a letter back from the company today, with an unreserved apology from both the driver and the London Branch Manager. The driver apparently expressed considerable remorse and gave his assurances that there would be no re-occurance of such actions. He didn't meet conpany expectations apparently.

I'm chuffed, very very chuffed, and respectful of Robinsons company policy. I think they dealt with this professionally and well, there wasn't a hint of blaming me for anything in the letter. They've also asked me very nicely to remove the video, which I'm considering now.

Good result. I'd be inclined to take the vid down. If you do have another run-in with the same firm, you can always upload it again...

Mght be worth mentioning in reply that someone claiming to be a colleague of the driver is acting like a total turd towards you on youtube.

I dont think I would remove it TBH.

That driver is still employed by that company and the company is still paying him to drive about on the roads. So the video stays. That company can continue to be represented by that driver and also the evidence of how he behaves while doing so.

If however, the driver was sacked, re-assigned or even put into compulsory training then fair enough. Just an apology, IMO isnt good enough.

Good response. I'd leave the clip up but put a comment saying how the company handled it.
I've commented similarly on the video itself. The vid should stay as it's still a useful tool in getting across the message about the dangers we face as cyclists.. just put that the company has apologised (and the driver too, if this is the case) and leave it there.

I would suggest leaving it up. Add the wording of the apology to the page if you think its pertinent, but he still did what he did. If you had gone under his wheels saying sorry wouldn't have made it all OK.

Nice result mikey.
As their response seems very genuine, I'd also be inclined to take the clip down in the spirit of 'reasonableness'.

I see your point but there was no harm done and leaving it up only just harms the reputation of the guys that own the company. Sure, the staff actions are the company's responsibility and for all we know they (the owners), might even be cyclists themselves!

Sounds like they've handed out a good bollocking to the driver and that's all we can ask of them. Also, other drivers there will be aware that the owners won't tolerate this type of thing so I don't see how further harm to company reputation is justified.

I don't think there is any real harm to the company if a message is posted at the start explaining the steps they've taken to stop it happening again.

So if it were your company, you'd be happy that the clip was there for the world to see? I can't say that I would and I can't say that I know of any other company owner that would be comfortable to see that sort of negative press on show.

They've done their best by listening to BM, taking his complaint seriously and acting appropriately - no need to make things hard on them.

This happens all the time in the press. I dont see how one video could possibly damage an entire company. The BBC and Daily Mail havent destroyed the NHS yet with their recent reports on failings.

I would also add that I doubt very much if the guy is actually sorry. He's prolly had a slap on the wrist and has shuffled his shoes and looked at his feet a little, stuck his bottom lip out and said "sorry boss". If he was that way inclined he would have acted so on the day instead of being a bellend.

My response would be keep the video uploaded, but blank out the guys face, and add some text in the description and video to update on the progress since.
