Is there any chance of manoeuvring the standard Rohloff twist grip shifter round a 45º in 2" bend?

There are workarounds though - if it as aheadset with spacers, John Street do an accessory bar that will mount the changer off the "stack"

Various ways of doing it, the Thorn Accessory bar is one, but if you want it one the bars themselves then life gets tricker. I can think of one way, if you have aero brake levers inserted in the ends then you could have the shifter at a right angle. Do this by mounting a MTB straight bar end on the bars, you need to file out the inside of the clamp. This could be orientated anywhere around the full 360 degrees, though cable routing would need consideration.
I've tried the Thorn widget, made my own mounts, as above, and have now settled on a homemade bar end mount in the Hubbub style. If you want to experiment I have the filed out MTB bar end in the garage. I can send you that to have a play.
