Shifter Upgrade

I currently have an Apollo Transfer Hybrid bicycle with a Shimano rear derailleur and my front one seems to be unbranded.
It is 18 speed, currently equipped with a 6 speed Revoshift right (indexed) and a 3 speed Revoshift left (Friction control)

I want to upgrade both to trigger shifters, but the front derailleur is making me confused. Since it has friction control, would a index shifter work with it? As I said, the front derailleur it's unbranded and nothing written on the Halfords website, so I can't have a look at compatibility.

Could I proceed with the upgrade?

Certainly would work, something like this has integrated brake levers but there are cheaper options for stand alone units:

Presume you have V brakes.
