Other players like Hendry are obviously great but I think if Hendry had started out much later he'd have only won about 3 or 4 titles instead of 7 - still classes as a great. I also think that John Higgins, O'Sullivan and Williams would have won 1 or 2 more each had they started out earlier.

That's the problem with trying to say someone is 'the best', they all peak at different times. Would Hendry at his peak have beaten Davies at his peak? How would O'Sullivan compare when he's at his best? Ultimately the players can only play the people who are around them at the time. And any 'best' comments are little more than guess work, usually based on who your favourite player is.
