Here's my roof box in action today.
Inside are two rucksacks and a hold-all (filled with mostly clothes) placed in-line, alongside a skibag containing five pairs of cross-country skis. And four pairs of skipoles.
It's a cheapo brand roofbox (Biltema) and it's seen a lot of use over the four years I've had it. No signs of UV deterioration as of yet though. It's sitting on Thule Wingbars which, in turn, are sitting on a 2013 Passat.
With two active kids and a hamster we always manage to fill the car on our trips away. I wasn't sure if there was space for the spare tyre again but managed to squeeze it in.
