The panel was good enough to advise on a good route for my daughter from Balham to Marble Arch, she used the advised route very happily and safely for 6 months, but is now moving jobs again...

New route:
Hillbury road, Balham to BT building @Paternoster Square

Suggestions?

I'd follow CS7 from Balham until you get over Southwark Bridge. Then straight on over Queen Street, left on Cannon St (a bit busy) and St Pauls is in on your right. Others may prefer a route via Blackfriars Bridge.

Blackfriars bridge is a bit of a mess at the moment because they've started work on the segregated cycle lane. Should be a good option when that's finished though.

Yep CS7. Very busy with cyclists once the weather warms up but should be fine right now. Oval has been a mess with roadworks but might be finished now

At the end of Southwark bridge once you've got up to the top, just a left turn from memory

Recce ;) should be a breeze on a Sunday (at least once you've got through Tooting)

Thanks for the advice, we rode CS7 all the way in this morning - good route, a bit tangy at the St Pauls end, but sortable.

And messed up around elephant where cs7 seemed to disappear. I rode from sutton to London Bridge, albeit bypassing the horror of tooting by going past St Georges, up Burntwood Lane, over Wandsworth Common and to Clapham South. Much quieter but more uphill!
