I'm planning to ride to London on Wednesday and have the route pretty much sorted apart from a short stretch through Camden. Just wondering whether anyone knows if it's possible to cycle alongside the canal (Grand Union?) to avoid the roads around there? The stretch I'd like to ride along is between Royal College Street near Camden Road station and the A41 at Lords (Regents Park area).

Yes, you can. It's the Regents Canal and it's very busy with cyclists: don't expect to make fast progress (particularly past the Camden markets) but it's an enjoyable ride. Map: http://cycle.travel/map?lat=51.5409&lon=-0.1456&zoom=16

The only sections of the Regents which aren't cyclable are the two tunnels, one under the Edgware Road, the other in Islington.

Great stuff- many thanks I'll give it a go. Looks like a pleasant way to end the ride. Cheers.

Additionally there is no cycling through the Lisson Grove moorings but this is bypassed on the other side of the canal.
