Route advice - Edinburgh commute

Hi,

I will be moving to Edinburgh in July and plan to commute by bike from the Western Harbour area to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France.

Had a look of the usual route planning sites but nothing shouts out as an obvious route that avoids busy areas. Would be grateful for any local advice anyone is able to give on route suggestions.

Some city centre traffic, but 85% very quiet roads/designated bike tracks...

When I lived in Edinburgh the SPOKES map was good and https://edinburgh.cyclestreets.net/ was a good source too :-)

Cyclestreets is good and I like plotaroute.com for when you know where you want to go.
There is this for a suggestion - and it looks like you'll be my nearest CC Member - possibly even nearer than @goo_mason who is in Leith.

Http://cycle.travel/map considers traffic data in countries where it's published, so might be worth a look. Asking it for round trip can find some interesting variations sometimes.

You may benefit from the recent exercise carried out by the police. The have been pulling over drivers who close pass their test police cyclist.
Hopefully they will continue for long enough for it to be effective.

I heard about in on the news when I was driving down yesterday. I believe they are doing a similar thing around Manchester.
