Someone at work recommended bikehike for plotting routes, showing elevation, gradients etc. It seems pretty easy to use but, before I start plotting, are there any better ones out there? In the past I used map my run (for running) which I found okay but a little clunky (although expect it's been upgraded since).

I'm using this one which I feel certain you know about.

Forgive me if I have misunderstood your question.

Map My Ride is my current favourite. It's more complicated than it needs to be, but once I got used to it I found it pretty easy to get around, and the elevation info is really detailed - it even categorises climbs for you.

p.s. quite like the look of ridewithgps, although after a test plot of a regular route I'm a little miffed at how those hills that have me out of the saddle puffing away are actually pretty modest % wise  . Equally, looking at the relative profile of a longer, steeper hill I was planning to have a bash at this weekend, I think I may have been better off not knowing until I was on the way up  .
