Why not just walk across Skeldergate Bridge rather than doing that big loop south to cross the Millenium Bridge?

I appreciate the stretch of Walmgate immediately outside the shop is one way, but on a bike I would go against that and go over Foss Bridge.

It's only a few yards, you could push the bike to be legal.

After Foss Bridge, I would hack my way through the shopping bit, aiming to emerge onto Duncombe Place/Museum Street.

You cannot go far wrong if you keep the Minster to your right.

It may not be an exact science because there are one or two road closures in the central area.
