I'm meeting a friend in Aust for a ride, and he is going earlier than me. Any suggestions for a quiet route from North Bristol (Redland/Henleaze area). I don't know the best end part of the route from that direction. So hoping to pick a local brain or someone who has gone through on a LEJOG though if you are doing that distance you probably wouldn't be worried by the roads in that area.

Read the title and thought you had abbreviated Australia:sad:.
Read the post and used Google map to find I must have cycled through or very close to Aust on my LEJOG.
Sorry can't remember it at all, but thanks for helping to add to my geographical knowledge:smile:

For me, I would head out towards Blaise, continue towards the Mall, then take Hollywood Lane towards Easter Compton, then Over Lane, turning into Badger Lane and continuing to head for Almondsbury, then from Almondsbury into Tockington, and finally taking Aust lane into Aust.

So avoiding the main road into Aust? I was trying to see whether there was a cycle path along the main road. I haven't decided which way I'm getting there yet, probably depends on how late I'm running. I know most of your suggested route.

I don't know about a cycle path along the main road. Hopefully @Spartak or @Arjimlad will be along soon as I think both of them are knowledgable of the area. I've only lived here a couple of years and I still wonder where the heck I am when riding with Stokes.

I've done almost all that route before just not all together, and the only bit I've not been along the Aust Road bit till the bit where it joins on the road going to the bridge.

You wouldn't go via Ingst or the A403? Both of those I don't know.

I'm off to Tockington tomorrow to do a corporate relay triathlon and the roads round there are very nice. The route @Spartak plotted looks great. I would personally not worry too much about doing the main road between Pilning and Aust as it is quiet and very wide, albeit fast.

What is one of them when it's at home? How many people will take part in it? And during working hours or after work?

The A403 can be busy with HGV's although I believe there is a cyclepath for part of it ???
