Rowing Lake Path in Peterborough

After work tonight I went for a wee wander, the best way to avoid traffic in Peterborough is the Rowing Lake Path, however it is badly flooded currently, after negotiating two flooded section and faced with a 3rd I couldn't see the end off (it might not been as bad as it looked in the dark), I gave up and went shopping instead. This is just a note to users of the path, expect flooding, something tells me it wont have receded by the morning either

Entire lake had totally disappeared last time I was in P-town!

I'm in town for the weekend with my 'fast bike' so I'm debating with myself whether I might get up early enough to have a pop at the Boat Race and Boat Race (reverse) but I reckon I'd have to average about 32mph top get them!

Shame it's flooded- seems to happen a lot to cycle tracks in Cambs*! the organisation I work for used to have a lovely little office along that route at a place called Ham Lane, and I used to really enjoy the ride from the railway station past the rowing lake to get there. I remember the little railway line you have to cross at one point (Nene Valley?). Sadly they got rid of that office and are now in the city centre near Asda- hardly worth bringing the bike as it's only half a mile or so from the station.

* Or Northants depending on how faithful to the historic counties you are!

I'm currently at the in-laws a few hundred yards away from the rowing lake, it didn't look flooded from the flyover by the Nene Valley railway. I might go for a peep tomorrow.
