Cycling down Vauxhall Bridge Road towards the bridge, and this toss pot tells me to 'stay in my lane' which i did, thanks for advice. he continues to badger me despite me telling him i had a camera, i don't want a confrontation with him, i just want to get home.

He ends up threatening to knock me off my bike, which unfortunately isn't caught on film due to my speed and the wind noise.

Anyone know of any ways to contact the royal mail about this guy? i don't think the complaint form online is going to get me very far.

Sorry, but in my opinion, the video does not capture his aggression. I note you are trying to look behind, as your camera is all over the place, but no pic of the van. The only strong voice is yours. So, I do not think you will get anything from this one. Just my view.

Not doubting your version of events, but having viewed the video I have to agree with Gavintc.

The only potential benefit is that it is obvious that the driver engages first.

It's a shame you can't make out anything he says, but that's the case a lot of the time with helmet cameras. Need one of these in your rucksack xx(

I mentioned this in another thread earlier, but I once complained to Tescos and it was through the 'hows my driving line'. The depot manager (doing by his letter) dealt with it correctly, without the video, so hopefully Royal Mail will be lenient and trust you.

Why's the first vehicle indicting right whilst turning left? Did he intend to go against the flow of traffic?
At the least you have the first vehicle pulling out of a junction when its not safe to do so.

I'd report it. It's on camera, it might not show them wielding a machine gun but that van is tied to that location and it can't be dismissed as some made up story by a nutty cyclist. At the very least they have to explain why they were so interested in that particular cyclist and that's when they incriminate themselves.

You've got his reg - you could still report it. It may get nowhere, or on the other hand the driver may get a quiet word from their supervisor, which might make them think a bit. Glad you got home safe.

It was nothing, move on.

It has raised a couple of questions for me.

Does wearing a camera affect how you ride and how you interact with drivers?

He was indicating right but to go left in the far lane. i think at this point the two sides of the road are segregated by a raised 'pavement'

Affect how you ride, i would say yes, you have to be good as gold as it's all on film. there is no point trying to report someone to the police for hitting you when you jumped a red light xx(
How i interact with drivers? it's so and so, to be honest i get maybe one bad incident a week where i really feel justified to talk to someone first, this wasn't one of them, i only posted it because he started shouting at me for doing nothing wrong and continued even after i said i have a camera.

Yes and no. With a camera, if something nasty happens you have the benefit of being able to point out that it's on film which will hopefully stop the incident from continuing. Naturally this is a positive and changes how you interact with drivers.

If you're asking, does wearing a camera make me aggressive in how I ride or towards drivers then no. Even though some of my videos may show me having a go at someone, most of the time it is for a good enough reason and probably of done it camera or not.

It is my experience that Royal Mail vans are some of the worst driven motor vehicles in London. I saw an elderly gentleman on a bicycle get pushed into the side of a parked car by one of these clowns. I am not saying they are all neanderthal knuckle-draggers who make up for their inadequacies by taking it out on vulnerable road user. Just most of them.

Report it, and follow it up. I have seen too many really nasty inicidents involving Royal Mail vans to think this is a one-off. Most close calls and incidents are cause by driver error - from what I could see from the video above, this looked malicious.
