Our postie has a bike and says that he loves it to bits, especially out where we live. I think that he will miss it when its forcefully removed from his hands
Got rid of the bikes in my office the start of this year, they sent them all to Africa. Staff who deliver within a mile use a High Capacity Trolley, everybody else are doubled up in vans. We do two walks, about 1300 houses, moving the van round several times and deliver all the parcels. It is all to do with parcels. letters are dropping by about 6% a year, parcels are the future for Royal Mail.

That might be something to do with them reclassifying something very thin and flat as a 'parcel' instead of a letter....the delivery costs for merchants have gone through the roof over the last 5 years
Depressing, isn't it. I miss getting mail first thing. No use having a first-class next-day service if it arrives after you've left the house and won't see a letter until it's too late in the day to act upon it. Sigh.
