I was just sick into my mouth.

That prat of a paparazzi bloke (Aussie guy with sh*t harido) said on sky news he didn't think Kate was the new Diana, but has now seen how she has bloomed in the last 2 weeks, and is now hot property.

My money's on him and his like being the first to hound her for photos.

Sickening.

And people will queue up to but the papers/magazines with the pics in.

Do people really have no conscience?

Well I really thought we could get away from it, so Mrs P and I set forth on a gentle 24-miles this morning. All fairly quiet on the roads (quite a lot of roadies about but only the average number of Sunday-family-cyclist outings. No horses ;)). At one point I could hear gunfire coming from the north (London-wards) and I was volubly speculating on whether we were hearing an "Ekaterinburg Moment", and that by the time we got home the Republic would be proclaimed - until Mrs P gently suggested that I 'can it'. Anyway it was probably only Farmer Giles polishing off some rabbits .

Later on we stumbled upon - yes! - yer actual English Street-party, courtesy of the good burghers of Wivelsfield Green. Held not quite in the street but in the forecourt of the aptly-named Cock Inn. I was eager to give my rendering of the Marseillaise at the pitch of my lungs (I only know the words to the first four lines )as we cycled past, but once again Mrs P hinted that I might want to look at the post supporting the inn-sign, just the right height to swing a noose from xx( . So I held my peace. On the whole a good morning - pretty warm but not a scorcher, a bit of breeze.

Now I've got some bread to make and maybe some courgette plants to put out. Has anything happened meantime?

Celeb culture, innit. No demand = no problem.

I've just spent the last 6 or 7 hours watching the Royal Wedding and can only say that I enjoyed every minute of the experience. There did seem to be quite a few others in London and other places that also enjoyed the day, which restored some of my faith in the British People after reading so many negative and in some cases nasty comments, that I've read on here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Keith, I was only joking when I called Flying Monkey a peasant

Slipped out of work early to watch it, and it hasn't let me down. Fantastic. All the pomp and pageantry you could wish for. A great day for Britain.

I suppose it helps to enjoy the occasion when you avoid all the weeks of media hype.

Ended up watching a fair bit. Got up early and was in N. Wales by 10:15. Went out on bikes about 1. Had. Go kart race with my son, his first time with petrol ones. The grin on his face. Wife and daughter went on a twister ride. Then cycles back to watch some more coverage, oh and cracked the beers open.

I was asleep throughout, didn't get up until 1.30 or so. Ms RT was watching it on YouTube but I managed to avoid it, apart from when she made me watch the female one getting out of the taxi in a massive dress. Why would she think I'd want to see that?

Just caught a few highlights on the news. Spotted them driving and illegally registered Aston Martin on the queens highway "JU5TWED" naughty naughty

1000s & 1000s of police on duty and no one pulled it over and issued a ticket!

All the police were looking the other way. Probably not taxed or insured either. And grannys car wasn't registered either.

"Dad. Can I borrow your car?"

I took a 10-ish train up to London (I had intended to ride but the missus had something she wanted to do so I couldn't leave until then) and the place was glorious! Not only for the fantastic atmosphere but the fact that central London was pretty much closed. I cycled over Westminster Bridge, stopping a couple of times for photos and to listen to the piper, then down Victoria Embankment (also empty), up Savoy St to the Strand, through Covent Garden, Leicester Square, through to the Haymarket at Tiger Tiger, down Pall Mall and up to St James and there was a queue of stationary traffic on the A4 at Piccadilly. So I cut through Mayfair and onto Park Lane (also empty) and down to HPC. Then I pretty much did the whole thing in reverse.

I suggested to a few of the coppers that it would be great to have London streets blocked off every Friday - they were all for it, though I feel that could be down to "double time" as much as anything else.

I cycled home, afterwards, a mix of tow path around Barnes to dual-cabbageway on the A30, and notched up about 50 miles, a good day.
