I was heading down Otley Road and she turned to go up the side of the New Inn.

Got some rather good piccies of my hand- looks quite dramatic. The worst of it was the corner of my stem in the "pelvic region".
Ouch!

i thought it would be that junction! Its part of my commute and i guess you must have been really flying at that point......full superman? Dont know what you're used too but you can borrow my tatty but perfectly serviceable hardtail MTB hack until you get your bike sorted.

Ta!

I was on a Giant defy 4- carefully chosen as it was the cheapest road bike in the shop! I have an old hybrid apollo thingy- just have to get a wheel straightened on it and I'll be fine.

I was doing 32kmph, so about 18-19mph, (not great weather) but slammed the brakes on. Really I can't have hit that fast, but I did land on a combination of head and shoulder. As I said, really lucky!

It's a hideous drag the other way- I guess it'll be your route home, up to Lawnswood Roundabout from the city centre... after Lawnswood I turn left up Otley Old Road for another couple of miles of climbing.

I'm sooo looking forward to getting the old hybrid out again!!

it has been said before on here that you'll often have people say that yes it was their fault and they'll pay etc thinking it wont cost much.

when they get a bill for £300+ road bike they start denying it was their fault.

Well, thought it probably the best place to announce that the legal process has come to an end. Got the cheque this morning for just shy of £4000.
About £1000 for daaged property- bike, glasses, clothes etc. The rest for injuries. Whole process took 4 months- that's with the driver taking total responsibility for the accident, witnesses and police on the scene pretty quickly.

That was fast. £3k for cuts and bruises (it was only that wasn't it ?) is good, and a quick payout ! I assume you've not had any worse injuries then ?

It was bikeline- Jonathan Lear.
Cuts and bruises to hands- still got some scarring. Knees hurt for a couple of months. Nasty whack in groin which swelled up impressively and left some rather photogenic bruising. I'll not share the photo's. 1 night in hospital.

I'm not allowed to buy another new bike- replaced the crashed one with the Secteur in March- 3 purchases in a year would lead to divorce. (I did consider it!)

Solicitors fees are paid by the losing side- ie, not me.
When I crashed it and got in touch he outlined the situation about paying him, and he made it pretty clear that he'd not take the case if I wasn't going to win it.
