If a tyre fails you - like this has - do not give the model 'another' chance. I've used the tube version of these (well one of) and was not impressed so off it came and replaced.
Surely you can expect at least 4000km (rear).
There are plenty of good tyres out there:

I had read some good things about the Hutchinson before buying, however I am aware that most reviews are either biased or not based on long term usage.

For the sake of it failing at a decent speed and causing me and the bike damage it might not be worth the risk and going elsewhere!

I'd say that's a manufacturing defect. The rubber should never delaminate like that it should just wear evenly down to the casing.

If it's still got a decent amount of rubber then it's not close to being worn.

Thanks for the replies on this everyone. Condor have said they would take the tyre back under warranty, replace and send the faulty one back to Hutchinson.
