Watched a couple of hours of documentary about Fleetwood Mac/Christine McVie. I'd seen much of it before but it was great for the music and to be reminded of events which influenced their music. As FM has been part of my life soundtrack since the late 60s I suppose enjoying this had more to it than just being good, or bad, TV.

I too watched some of Fleetwood Mac/Christine McVie, they have also been part of the soundtrack of my life, first seen in Buxton Pavillion Gardens 1969, more than 50 years ago, I am just trying to get my head round that.

Watched the end of Worzel Gummidge, and it did get better. Very similar to the Dectectorists though - gentle humour and not much going on. I think it will appeal to adults more than kids.

You are spot on there! After dinner/pub/phone conversations, "oh you should watch this, that, the other". I must have had recommendations to watch totals into the hundreds of hours of viewing. During the last year, recommendations to watch Peaky Blinders, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, The Wire. I have not bothered to watch any of them because they are multi series shows and must number into days and days total viewing.
Life is just not long enough for such luxuries.
Watch an episode. You might find something you want to carry on with, you might not. Nothing to lose either way, except less than an hour of your time. The Wire is one of the finest TV shows ever made, Breaking Bad not far behind. And if it takes years to see 60 hours or so, because you save it for rainy days or train journeys, so what?

Dipping in is where my obsessive streak gets the better of me, if its there to watch I watch it. Still, I'm not quite 60 years and if I find myself

I love the book, but any adaptation that starts with urinating on Marley's gravestone is not going go down well with me. The book is perfect and why they felt the need to take such liberties with it I don't know. I only watched the first episode though so maybe it improves.
It doesn't.
The new ‘Christmas Carol’ bored us schitless, one episode is enough thanks.
I wish I'd only watched the one episode.
....maybe we’ll give it a second chance....
Don't bother... it gets worse.

Watched ‘Call the Midwife’ Christmas Special. Last year when in the Outer Hebs we couldn’t get to the beautiful church in Rodell as they were filming the show. The program is what it is, but the star of the show is the scenery and locations - some of our favourites. A reminder why we’re going back soon....
Watch If only for the backdrop.

To think as a kid i bemoaned the period when the beeb showed A Hard Day"s Night every year. Would love to see it again. A great feel good film.
Never fear folks, Peeping Tom is showing on Talking Pictures again soon. 28th from memory.
Well waddya know, beeb showing it 7pm Friday on bbc4.
Best seen on a cinema screen with a room full of folk, but still a great feelgood film.

Lawrence of Arabia.
Was on free view Sony movies the other day.
On again tomorrow at 10.50
A masterpiece, possibly the most intelligent epic ever.
And no cgi!
As someone on imdb said, when lean and Co wanted to film a sunrise, they got there early. Sat around in the dark. And waited for it to come up.

Worzel Gummidge , Mackenzie Crooks Writing is always interesting , he does like to include eco themes and obviously has a deep appreciation of the British countryside and wildlife and as AuroraSaab says its gentle humour and slow moving ,but this focus on wildlife and its the same in Detectorist is very refreshing indeed , to bring to the central focus of a show such as this ,a non wild life program the beautiful detail of our countryside and the central characters obvious enjoyment of it is quite powerful ,I do hope his writing does inspire others to have a connection with nature .

Been wondering whether to catch up with the christine keeler thing. Any good? Seem to be a lot of parts. Seem to recall seeing some story, but didn't read, which likened it to soft core porn. Seemed unlikely.

PC porn - there is no nudity, just some moaning and groaning in the background.
