Im seriously considering going down the rack route, sweaty back all the time. silly question but can i still fix my rear light on a rack (Phaart 1/2watt bleep) i was going to put my rucksack on it with a bungie strap?
cycling plus (January 2013) has a detailed article on a range of rucksacks, it looks at 12 commuting specific rucksacks with a base kit of laptop,change of clothes,inner tube,levers and cycling gear such as gloves,lights etc ...... a very good read.

i have tried both ways of lugging my stuff around, and still cannot make up my mind. some weeks i take a rear rack with panniers, and other times, i keep thinking of the extra weight of the rack, and go back to a rucksack.
a rack is definately more comfortable, i stay sweaty back free and my shoulders don't hurt. going with a rucksack "feels" faster, but i don't take a computer with me on the commute,so can't back it up with any data.
