Rugged spectacle. Do they exist?

Oakley's are actually rubbish.
I got knocked off my kayak by a large wave.............my Oakley's fell off and sunk, never to be seen again..............rubbish.

Well, I don't work in surgically clean conditions by any stretch of the imagination. It's usually pretty filthy, but there are rarely any chemicals or solvents that could really attack the frames. My problem is that stuff gets dumped on my glasses. I need STRENGTH!

World domination is a dirty business. Is the lack of quality optics the reason it seems to have gone quiet on that front or are you about to release the gas and so need to maintain the element of surprise?

OK, I'll state the blindingly obvious then: Why don't you make a pair?

If I had a billet of titanium and a 5-axis CNC centre, I might give it a shot. Unfortunately poverty prevents me trying that route.

I had cataract operations earlier this year and bought metal framed, glass lensed reading glasses from the optician, prescribed for my new vision. Must admit I have been pleasantly surprised how robust they have been. Bought two pairs, one upstairs and one down, so there is always a pair to hand. I had some cheapo plastic ones between ops and for a month or so afterwards. They were OK, but much prefer my opticians ones.
Apart from obviously the glass, I think a lot depends upon the frame. My new glasses are far more robust than my old ones, where the frame had to be as light as I could go, because of the strength of the glass.

Without giving anything away, I may need some lightly tinted lenses to protect my eyes from thermo-nuclear blasts. I'm afraid I can't go into any more detail.

Ah yes, mountain climbing glasses. They are certainly tough but the peripheral vision is dreadful. I once tried to drive wearing a pair.....for about two minutes. Scary.
