Just think how much further ahead of you he'd have been without the added weight

For a road bike yes. However...
My daughter went for a Specialized Ariel over a Bianchi (something). The Bianchi came with frame coloured mudguards and a rack, all in black. Very chic she looked on it too. Specialized won out on practcality for her use.

Or the Hi Viz tabard parachute - Gaz would need a telephoto lens to keep him in shot then...

if those are the rules, i wouldn't buy one because i'd never get past rule 1, the colour is horrible and men should not ride bikes that colour!

That's like saying the leader of the Giro shouldn't wear PINK, men shouldn't wear pink. I like Pink:blush:, I like Celeste too, although I probably wouldn't wear pink if I was riding a Bianchi!

Who's was first....

Edoardo Bianchi's bicycle in 1885, or

John Kemp Starley's Rover Safety bicycle in 1885 ?????

You would if you were leading the Giro and your team supplied Bianchis.

I have a Bianchi.

Nay - I tell a lie! I have two Bianchis.

Is 'celeste' that horrible turquoise-y colour that my older Bianchi is in? In that case yes, one of them is in celeste, but the other isn't. I have to say, I didn't choose them for the colours.

Perhaps a Bianchi shouldn't be ridden, slowly, by an old codger like yours truly. In that case, I bow my head, mutter "guilty" and make a hurried exit....

But I don't have mudguards - or a rack and pannier (note the singular ;)) on either of them. In the circumstances, can I re-join the clique?

Incidentally, in your video, looks like your 'brief encounter' doesn't want to be passed...;)
