I belive, rightly or wrongly that the strips are there for blind/partially sighted pedestrians to warn them that they are at a junction with a road. I have seen them on other shared paths. I go through Hyde Park several times a month and I can't say that I have had a problem with them, even on my skinny tyres.

No, these are not the same. You've clearly not ridden over these ones, else your post would be entirely different. :bravo:

It's not the cobbles by the pedestrian crossing over SCR. There are distinct rumble strips. Ride over them and you will be in no doubt at all.
Where abouts are they? Today i cycled all the way up lovers walk from serpentine road to speakers corner. and didn't see or feel anything.

That's the north bit of the cycle path. We're talking about the south side, which runs from HPC alongside and to the north of Rotten Row, all the way to Mount Gate into Kensington Gardens. The rough bits are on the HPC end, about here:

oooooooh i seeeee. am litreally just missing them.. again will check them out tomorrow morning.

Meassures to slow people down at the end of that stretch are needed. but if they are as bad as you say they are, a tad on the extreme side.

I think you're right, the downhill sections of this path attract some pretty fast riding (for a park and for a tight cycle path), so i guess they are trying to discourage accidents.

I have to say that, despite changing my route to accomodate the park, its becoming a bit "stiffling" being caught amongst all those riders, without the ability to overtake and being "hemmed" in against a railing at times.

I prefer to use the road...I am starting to miss my embankment route.

How fickle am I?

I've changed my route on several occasions to take my self away from the park. I first did do the section where these bumps are from knightsbridge. but stopped due to the bad traffic there and now cycle park lane both ways becuase i find the people cycling lovers walk a little on the crazy side! as you say, going a bit to fast at some points.

Rumble strips on cycle path in Hyde

Does anybody think they're also a trip hazard to pedestrians?
Nothing like encouraging people to ride bikes in the park is there:angry:
I rode it today 'Rotten Row' and a Westminster council truck was blocking the cycle lane! so I had to ride into pedestrians in order to over come the truck who's army of road workers, were very busy putting in even more of these hideous (cobbled stone) obstacles.

If any old folk trip over these as they may well do, I think Westminster council will regret putting them in! especially if folk want to sue them for damages.

Lets face it Westminster council, rumble strips are for motorists, your being dummies for implementing theses measures for cyclists, you'll also cause accidents...if you don't want us cycling through your park, ban us!

There's a red cobbled contraflow cycle lane for 150 yards in town here (they were newly installed the road wasn't cobbled before anyone asks). The council saw no safety issue whatsoever even though they are lethal. There are also a few remnants of cobbles preserved on cycle paths around the city.

The cycle blog I read the details on claims it isn't the only retrospective move in London going on and that cyclists have been banned from Oxford St.

I rode today off Great Chapel Street (Left Turn Only) and a Police officer who had pulled me up for crossing a white line at the traffic lights, told me I can walk right across into Oxford St and continue on my way, which I did!
Westminster council may be considering introducing these draconian measures here but if Mayor Johnson believes in a cycle green city he keeps harking on about, then these numptys should not get their way!
