It's great for losing weight, but the specialist has said no to running on the road, or even a treadmill. I've tried a few minutes in the gym, but the spinal compression starts to hurt after a few minutes. Will stick to the bike.

I'm another Couch to 5k starter. Thought I was pretty fit and was shocked at how bad my running was when i started to train to join the prison service.
Six months on I quite enjoy the buzz after a run. I run two to three times a week and find it helps keep the belly down

I used to run quite a bit, 10k's and the odd half-marathon (never done a full one, I was a 100/200m specialist at school and I'm not built like a stick insect).

Can't stand it now. If I ever go for a 5k I feel like I've been in a car crash for about four days afterwards.

Started to get shin splint warning signs at the weekend, previously I suffered quite badly with this, so I walked instead of running my 2 miles on Tuesday and this morning I've dropped to a mile.
I'm averaging a 12min pace, which isn't bad considering I still walk between runs.
When I'm up to doing the full mile I'll go back to the 2 mile route.
I've completed my first half marathon though!
