That would have put me last!!! 55.13. Still not fast enough really though - 31 men managed to go faster...
On another note - we rode round the route for the ride this thread is supposed to be about today. Here are some of my thoughts...
It could be an interesting ride - i lost count of the number of pretty pubs with beer gardens that we cycled past...and we're spoilt for choice on cafe stops.
There are some excellent downhills that ColinJ will love - a few places for a well timed bunny hop too! (TF entertained some folk who happened to be sitting near a cattle grid...)
On the way back TF is keen to show you all the reservoir and so we're doing a bit of the track around it - this is fine and today it was truly beautiful. BUT (as Angel Diva will know) when the weather's nice these annoying things called pedestrians appearTF enjoyed scaring many, but there were a few hairy moments with small people on wobbly bikes
The rest of the route was quiet traffic wise - except for a convoy of old triumphs. The weather was gorgeous and the yellow fields are still in full flow. It was 55 miles, we took it easy, stopping here and there for a photo, coffee, ice cream..
There was the odd hill here and there...![]()
I don't believe it - what a total blithering idiot I am!!!!!I'm still waiting for a new granny ring to arrive for my Basso. I don't want to use the old one again after my recent forum ride with lots of slipping gears.
I refer the honourable gentleman to this ...Colin What do you need a granny ring for? TF says it's not hilly!

I have a new middle ring and I wouldn't be too worried about not having the little ring for this ride, but I'll definitely be needing it for the ride home a few days later, given that I will be tackling some really nasty Yorkshire hills at 20-25% and I will be carrying extra clothes with me ...
If the chainring doesn't come in time, then I might as well bring my Cannondale instead and accept that I'll be walking up the steep stuff on my return ride.
Should really read everyting..I refer the honourable gentleman to this ...

I was thinking of going out for a ride but 15 minutes sat in the sun just now having a chat and a cuppa with a friend was enough to convince me to wait until this evening when it will be cooler!Never mind reading, are you riding?
A blue light on your head ought to do itTF I'm just a bit worried that if I turn up no one will know who I am!
Just make sure you get out and ride because it might be a while before it's this warm again, I have put my order in for somewhere between 18 - 20C with sun and not too windy...........fat chance.I was thinking of going out for a ride but 15 minutes sat in the sun just now having a chat and a cuppa with a friend was enough to convince me to wait until this evening when it will be cooler!
My new chainring is on its way by 1st class post so I hope to get it tomorrow, in time for a hilly test ride before I come down to the Midlands.
This is sounding awfully familiar ColinMy new chainring is on its way by 1st class post so I hope to get it tomorrow, in time for a hilly test ride before I come down to the Midlands.
