In industrial gearboxes oil density can be critical, maybe not so much in a bicycle gear train designed around 1900.
I used EP2 grease on the axle bearings and the ball cup, just the gears and pawls have 90 weight on them.
The chain definitely doesnt slip on either sprocket.
Using chalk the points where drive starts observed on the crank are north south east west looking at the drive side pedal, which to me implies more than just some kind of slip as the engagement points remain fairly constant, I guess I could put marking blue on the pawl detents to see if any are not engaging the pawls.
I'm considering pulling the wheel to bits and swapping in another hub if cleaning and re-lubing doesn't work, I'd have to do this as I dont have another 590mm Bsw rim.

If it's not causing any other problems then why not just leave it?
