Sad, early waste of musical talent.

Was just listening to a Karen Carpenter song and it got me thinking of REAL musical talent we lost way too soon.
Some were lost from "natural causes" or at the hands of others but many were (searching for correct phrase) self induced.
I know its in the eye/ear of the beholder but.........
Whitney Houston.......what a voice but what a mixed up person.
John Lennon....a genius according to many people.....robbed of life.
Elvis.....sad demise of a great artist.
Feel free to add any that spring to mind.

I agree Lullabelle- she had such a clear wonderful voice. [Rumer has a similar quality very like Karen Carpenter's- wonderful]

The OP is asking for sad early waste of musical talent.

Lennon, Elvis, Whitney Houston, and Eva Cassidy had long careers, albeit they would have been longer had they not died.

For 'early' you need to look at the likes of Buddy Holly and Eddie Cochran, both of whom died in their early 20s.
