Saddles are like shoes, you can try therm in the shop but you've no idea how they will fit after fifty sweaty miles so you take pot luck. This is why cyclists' sheds are generally cluttered with half-used kit that they have realised doesn't suit them. As I've written before, I once bought a Brooks Swift but found it like sitting on a knife, also I was shocked at the weight and crudeness of manufacture and simply didn't want it on my bike. I expect that if I had stuck with it, by now the leather would have stretched and my bum would be happily sitting in the hammock-like cradle., same as my old leather mountaineering boots, which didn't become comfortable until they had got wet a few times and stretched.

I am not recommending the Arione, as it’s totally down to the individual with regards to what fits, as already said. Just stating that, once the right saddle is found, then buy up a couple more of seen at a good price.

In saying that, I would heartily recommend the Arione, if it’s the right fit, as the build quality and style is amazing. As are other products in their ever growing range.

Do the rails on the Fiziks generally only accept the Fizik saddle bags?

The Merida saddle on my Ride-400 was about as comfortable as a brick, I was very sore after 20miles, and I preserved for months.
Do not spread jam on your saddle.

But like others have said recommending saddles is almost impossible, find a store with an ass-o-matic.
...who will often then try to push you towards the closest one they stock, even if it's not quite right for you. It seems better to measure your own bum and pick from the full market.

damn my bad on spelling, maybe I tried this instead of udder cream?

Well the shop I went to, the suggested the Avatar as it was cheaper, they had Fizik's in stock, I found the Fizik more comfortable but went with the cheaper option.

Only reason I'm looking again is I dropped something on my bike in the shed and the saddle's now torn, better the saddle then paint getting damaged

They are standard rails, so should accept any bags depending on how much setback you have on the saddle.

There is a removable piece at the back of the saddle part though, which you can buy Fizik specific bags to clip into though. They also do lights that use the same connection. No experience of either though.

You should use a connect saddle and have a rear light connected then your saddle bag won’t obstruct.

My two most comfortable saddles have been an old-fashioned Selle Italia Flite, which had a rounded top with no cutout and a couple of Charge Spoons and Knives, which have a flatter top and slightly scooped profile from the side, which you would think should be more comfortable. Yet that old Flite was also comfortable; I read somewhere that a good shape is actually rounded in the side to side plane.

Also, the el-cheapo no-name saddle on my ancient MTB is as comfy as a comfy thing. Have already removed it in anticipation of N+1 arriving at some point over the summer. It's a bit battered and dog-eared, but I don't care.
