If I'm reading this correctly a handcycle does not require lights and reflectors at night if it's being ridden in secondary. Fancy that.

I'm not saying pedal reflectors aren't useful, just the law is in a way archaic as they don't take into account modern clipless pedals and cycling shoes generally having reflectives. It could really do with being ammended to deal with this, along with modern lights being much brighter than the old dynamos and everready bricks that were the norm at the time.

I don't however believe laws on red lights require ammendment.

I don't fit in either of those groups. I don't RLJ but I do object to people making up reasons which are demonstrably untrue as to why others should not do it. Most of us cannot object on a legal basis because our bikes are illegal (clipless pedals) and its demonstrably not dangerous. If someone can come up with a good clear consistent case against I'm waiting to hear it.

Is a policeman required to be perfect, or is he instantly disallowed from issuing red light tickets? If you get stopped by a policeman for jumping a red light, when said policeman happened to ride with clipless pedals with no reflectors at the weekend, IS THAT A GET OUT OF TICKET scenario?

Of course not, what a load of old tosh this debate really is.
