Spd pedals are available with reflectors.
No way of making them or any pedals legal on most recumbents though.

Interesting: http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1989/1796/regulation/9/made

If I'm reading this correctly a handcycle does not require lights and reflectors at night if it's being ridden in secondary. Fancy that.
Oh, and pedal reflector regulations aren't archaic.

Often the movement of a pedal reflector has been the thing that attracted me to a cyclist on the road at night. Even more so when it was a stealth cyclist with no lights.
I'm not saying pedal reflectors aren't useful, just the law is in a way archaic as they don't take into account modern clipless pedals and cycling shoes generally having reflectives. It could really do with being ammended to deal with this, along with modern lights being much brighter than the old dynamos and everready bricks that were the norm at the time.

I don't however believe laws on red lights require ammendment.

Here for rides.
I don't fit in either of those groups. I don't RLJ but I do object to people making up reasons which are demonstrably untrue as to why others should not do it. Most of us cannot object on a legal basis because our bikes are illegal (clipless pedals) and its demonstrably not dangerous. If someone can come up with a good clear consistent case against I'm waiting to hear it.

You may as well say most of us cannot object to speeding on the same basis. It's demonstrably not dangerous and our bikes are illegal so we can have no view.

Which sort of falls flat when someone comes along and says...

"My bike fully complies with all aspects of the relevant laws including having type approved reflectors on its clipless pedals.

RLJ'ing is illegal.

Next!"

What?

What's your view on filtering into a ASZ by means other than the gutter feeder lane?

I'm sorry, but I must be in a parallel universe. 115 posts on red light jumping and everyone is behaving themselves.

This is no good-I want to see blood. :boxing:

Is a policeman required to be perfect, or is he instantly disallowed from issuing red light tickets? If you get stopped by a policeman for jumping a red light, when said policeman happened to ride with clipless pedals with no reflectors at the weekend, IS THAT A GET OUT OF TICKET scenario?

Of course not, what a load of old tosh this debate really is.
