"The Fly6 is not yet on the market, but it has already become a roaring success. The Australian inventors, Andrew Hagen and Kingsley Feigert, took the Fly6 to the crowd funding platform Kickstarter to raise $95,000 to get this into production. Within hours their ‘super early bird’ pledge was sold out and after only three days it was funded; they are currently up to $170,000 in funding and still counting.

What makes the Fly6 so special? For starters it’s a really good idea: a compact camera mounted into an LED taillight for your bike. Thankfully this camera has been well thought through and doesn’t try to compete against the growing range of sports action cameras such as GoPro, Sony Action Cam, Contour, Ghost Drift, Garmin, or Shimano."

Why is it a "safety camera", when the whole point is to capture images of being dangerous, not safe?

Good idea though, maybe if they develop it some more.

I've got one. I wanted a rear camera anyway, and couldn't get one that mounted the way I wanted.

I really like it - it takes decent images, and the light function is good. Eye-catching and bright.

I like the convenience of having it in one package, so only one thing to have to mount and remember to take off.
Also, it loops footage once the card is full, so you don't have to remember to delete files. It also has a collision detection function, so if it tips by more than 30° for more than a few seconds, it keeps recording for a bit (30 mins I think) and then switches off to make sure the relevant footage is not overwritten.

My main criticism is that the mount it comes in will only mount to the seat post. I want to get mine onto the back of the rear rack, as I sometimes have a rack bag and sometimes have my daughter in her seat - both of which would obscure it. I'm going to have a look to see if I can attach the mount somehow, maybe judicious use of cable ties.

Isn't a collision camera more aptly named, users hoping they'll prove their innocence in a collision?
Also gets around a few legalities with regards CCTV.
That from a transport company that has them fitted to most of their "smaller" vehicles.

My GoPro is a safety camera!

Yesterday sat at lights in an ASL when an Audi came alongside in the ASL signalling left and edging across my path.

Small blip on the Airzound, point out camera and smile knowingly...................one left hook averted

It will be those sort of cameras that will come fitted to bikes as standard in a few years. The same way banks have cameras, with their stupid victim mentality.
