Samsung Galaxy Ace, are they problematic?

Had one for less than a month, downloaded a few apps from the Samsung App store including a puzzle game called Flow. Daughter was playing this yesterday, tried to get on the hardest grid which is 9x9 when the picture on the display started flashing. It wouldn't respond to the soft keys being pressed so I tried the Microsoft Reset (off/on) and all it would do then was show the initial screen of makers name and phoen model, then the startup animation followed by the Samsung logo, then loop back to the animation/logo and around again. Taking battery/SIM/SD cards out and in produced same result.
I had a problem last week when it lost it's data connection (wouldn't even work as a phone), despite being physically next to the 02 mast, and a battery off/on restart was required then. Tesco mobile are sending out a pre-addressed Jiffy bag for it (ten-day turnaround time, bloody good job I don't rely on the thing eh?), has anyone else had problems like this with this phone? WIfey and son have both got the same make/model, bought at the same time so it might just turn out that I've got a Friday afternoon job. I'll have to see what comes of the 'repair' they are going to do.......

Not the Galaxy Ace, but I've had no issues what so ever with the Galaxy Ace 2.

Never happen with a shiny apple phone.

Wrong.

A family member had an iOS update pushed to their iPhone over the network, only it apparently wasn't compatible with their 3GS iPhone. The phone was rendered completely useless and all data was lost - So even Apple phones go wrong sometimes.

That's a common fault on various mobile phones on various networks.

The other stuff though, that isn't normal.

Clearly user error.

Although I doubt this will persuade you, this family member is a tech-geek type person and Apple enthusiast, and would have no reason to lie about this to me, but hey-ho. Besides, the fact that this was possible even by user error as you claim is an issue in itself. I believe the issue was similar to this, although I don't remember the specifics.

Besides, perhaps OP just wanted useful maps, and hence got an Android phone?
