passed away today. Wrestling at (about) 4 o'clock on a Saturday was essential viewing, with my Mum, Dad, sister etc - who had to put up with obnoxious wrist twisting - as part of role play....

Never saw the point of it, I'm afraid. Like watching MoTD played without a ball but everyone pretending there was one.

I only used to watch the Motocross. Always amazed how brilliant the minis were often against much more powerful cars.

I always remember watching Big Daddy and the others when I was a kid.

Fat middle aged men in badly fitted leotards getting into homo erotic positions with each other..... we never thought there was anything remotely wrong with that!

Jackie Pallo in his striped speedos was a favourite villain. I used to go to the live show when it was in town, the handicapped kids I worked with loved it. I was never sure whether the old lady with the swinging handbag as she entered the ring was part of the act or not until I saw someone I knew doing it.

If you were lucky they had drag racing.

As for the wrestling, it was never missed in our house, me, my brother and my dad sat on the sofa whilst mum cooked tea. To this day I associate the smell of mince and potato pie with wrestling.

Mick McManus and Ray Manzarek of the Doors on successive days. The only connection for me is I associate both with my teens - I am getting old:wacko:
The wresting was always best of three points - and invariably it was always a 2-1 result. Mick was a baddy but he usually won, I think he was actually better than the rest, despite the the phony competition.

Edit : Just read hit obit - he was chief match fixer! And an authority on antique porcelain.
