Of the many annoying inabilities the second half of life has bestowed on me, an inability to lie in one of the most striking. Frustratingly it hasn't afflicted Mrs Wakemalcolm so I'll be alone downstairs for the next 2 hours. Used to think it was alcohol related: I'm pretty much dry these days. Maybe it's caffeine: I rarely gave coffee after midday. Perhaps, as my Dad used to delight in telling me: I'm just getting old.

Anyhow, rain, breakfast, coffee, ParkRun, teenage admin, snooze.

Hmmm, likewise .
I do wonder if its lifetime habit, particually as I worked shifts for many years and never had a problem getting up at 5am.
This morning, classic example, the two girls are at their mums for last night, bed around 11 for me, awake at 5ish, snoozed till around 6.30,, up walk dog, have some breakfast, so now im off out to the local country park in the bike, camera and binos in hand.
But the thought of a proper lie in seems a long long time ago.

no lie-in here, pleasant sunny sunrise ride, two cafe stops, more coffee next, perhaps a bask later if it warms up

Morning

Usual 0800 ish start, no chance of sun related skin damage here today. Coffee then meet offspring for lunch near town.
Never been an early riser , but also rarely slept in really late, irritating when been up very late!

Only up at 7.30am because junior was upmearly some Pilates class and making a noise. Quick tip trip, then a sunny 60k followed by procurement of supplies before the visitors arrive tomorrow. I'll see how much time is left after that.

At the moment I’m actively trying to shift my sleep pattern to wake up earlier. And it’s working as the last three days I’ve been awake before my alarm which varies depending on what I’m doing.
Mrs HD is in Spain so I’m outreaching the Giro highlights and then pup walking.
Maybe via a drinking establishment? Who knows…
