Yep agree with that.
And they do look bleedin' atrocious on the bike.

Well not as atrocious as one mangled bike and a deadish cyclist. It's not about what they look like it's about what noise they MAKE!

Never found the need to use one and as you probably know I commute a very busy London route everyday .

Never, ever, ever? How do you know if you have never had one? I wouldn't ride without mine. I fill it to max pressure every time I climb on my bike and stop to re-pressurise if it is getting low. I bought one as I have been knocked down 3 times and had numerous near hits over the years as has every one else here. I felt enough was enough. The time was right. It has been the best piece of cycling equipment second only to my Brompton. Since having it I have avoided being off'd again. Quite often use it on cars that think they can cross my right of way or drive over me. It usual means they slam on or the car rocks on it's suspension. The Max Ds help as well as I simply don't get drivers pulling out on me with these on even on low power. They are fabulous. But I don't have them on flashing. IHTH.

Just no need. A loud voice is enough. Even in the heaviest of traffic.

I can honestly answer that one crank's. I realised i needed a cam about 3 years ago and bought one. I didn't have one before but realised i needed it regardless when i was in a situation where i just didn't have enough hands to film something i needed to whilst riding.

But i've never felt myself longing for a zound and those i have seen used are almost always used in inappropriate situations, even i tutt when i hear them being used to spook peds and other cyclists.

As far as "everyone else here ...having accidents" i'll stick my neck out and state that in four or so years riding 120 to 200 miles a week through London, i've never had a collision.

Thats not meant to sound like a boast, my point here is, that perhaps the environment you ride in does require a zound, perhaps its more open with faster noisier traffic but for me, in amongst the busy close streets of London i am totally confident i can stop traffic with a good bellow.

Perhaps what we are talking about are two totally different things
