Hi Everyone,

So, this year I am going to be converting to road riding.

Previously I have been on MTB. My steed is a Gary Fisher Marlin - about 6 years old I think. I don't have the funds for the proper road machine at the moment, so have put some slicks on the MTB, and just fitted clipless pedal and got the shoes set up.

I am loving it, and last week did 23 miles straight off, and the 18 miles 2 days later. Not huge mileage I know, but I'm new to it, and it is a MTB after all.

Just thought I would share. Got some decent clothing gear at the weekend too, and looking forward to trying it all out together this week.

In the meantime I am drooling over bikes - currently fancying a Specialized Allez Elite Compact or Sport Triple..but I won't let it worry me as I don't expect to have the funds this summer :-(

Still at least I can get fit on my MTB, and when the road machine comes, I will flyyyyy lol

So long as your enjoying your cycling it doesnt matter what you ride.

As you predicted after riding the mtb you will really notice the lightness of a roadbike once you get one.

Dude if money is an issue get Viking Torino I got one it's only £350 it has carbon front forks, the thing where the brake levers are gear shifters, aero rims. Everything I need I think the bike is awesome

Hi mate, rode MTB for 15 years with slicks and knoblys, told my mate- a veteran I was thinking of buying a road bike, he said "you'll never ride your MTB again" rubbish I thought, after 6 months as a roady I sold it, too slow and cumbersome, and I've never looked back - took a bit of getting used to so good luck.
