Just to let all you good folk know about a sorry tale this week. Cubette turned 12 last week, and in August asked whether she could go to a Beyonce concert as her present. Yes, as long as Mrs Cube went with her, and of course she persuaded her friend and her friend's mum to go with them.
A bit of web searching ensued and as there are many different ticket sales sites out there in Interwebspace, we chose one that was selling at about the same price as everywhere else, but had tickets available in a block of four, rather than the pais that most sites semed to be offering.

I therefore ordered on their secure ordering page etc etc, and was sent an email confirmation of the sale . £300. The email told me I could expect the tickets to be posted to my home address to arrive between 3 and 5 days before the gig.

The gig was tonight at MEN arena, and we expected the tickets to arrive last Fri or Sat. They didn't.

On Sat I emailed the contact details asking for them to confirm the tickets were posted.

A reply yesterday, Tuesday, to say they had been let down by their supplier and we would be refunded the full price of the tickets. Needless to say the tickets are all sold out and Cubette is absolutely devastated. A bit of research shows that UKTICKETFACTORY.COM is in fact trading on a Hungarian Server, with registered offices in Budapest. Other people have been similarly scammed on other gigs.

My suspicions are aroused because of several other issues, not least that they will not supply me with a contact phone number or registered business details.

Steer well clear of this site. You are very likely not to receive tickets. They will bank your cash for months and benefit financially by deception. I am very cynical as to whether I will recieve a refund.

They have yet to prove to me that they are anything other than scumsucking parasites.

It's a long shot, but do you have any claim against your credit card? I know for UK purchases you are covered for anything over £100, but I don't think this applies for foreign sales. You may have a case if there was already information out there about the fraud though. Worth a go?

the practice of withholding tickets is widespread, and it's what gives these criminals their opportunity. The excuse is that it prevents touting. And you don't have to go to Hungary to get shafted. Seetickets, based in Nottingham took me for about £80, although in their case it was stupidity rather than criminality.

And the CTC managed to lose all the subs money paid to them in September.......

Yes, I can probably get the money back from the card issuer if the site doesn't refund it. What really, really pisses me off is that the site is still up and running, still offering tickets, and all I can do is try to warn as many people as possible.

I can imagine a similar reaction from the slightly younger Bolletta.

I had a look at the site and it's certainly convincing enough. Some of the spelling in the FAQ hints that it might not be all that, but that's only with the benefit of hindsight.

Sadly, it doesn't. It just means the touts send you e.g. the confirmation-of-order email that they got (or that they faked) and tell you to wait for the ticket to arrive later.

If the industry really wanted to prevent touting it'd print ticketholders names on tickets and require proof of id to be shown at the box office. But as long as commercially unsuccessful shows get their tickets underwritten by touts who buy up all the unsold tickets in the hope of reselling, where's the incentive to do that?

I know someone who bought tickets for the hatton/Mayweather fight in Vegas and, like you, did not receive any tickets. However, they did get a refund. Apparently these sites sell tickets they do not yet have and simply buy from touts at a lower price than they charge. If they don`t get sufficient tickets then people miss out and as you say they bank your cash for months.
The only plus side is that it is in there own interests to give refunds as this , apparently, keeps them on the right side of the law and they can continue trading.
In the eyes of the law they have failed to supply goods but have refunded so thats ok.

A version of the site was masquerading as a Muse ticket source, the layout was very similar as were the prices. Something about the site didn't quite ring true and I didn't go ahead with the transaction. I just couldn't see how the company could legitimately get its hands on the tickets that it was selling.

It's no consolation I know, but if you must to buy from the secondary market then one of the more reputable sources such as Viagogo does a competent job.
