Dining at the Civil Service Club tonight. It brought back memories perhaps best forgotten. The wine was okay.

Always lived less than 15 mins walk from the school, so always went home.

In fact, I was so close that I was envious of the lads who used to cycle in. I always walked, not wishing to leave a good bike in the bike shed.

At my school the cooks prepared sole.
OK it was really liver but it felt like a cooked shoe sole.

Those horrible dry as a bone, boiled potatoes! There was a lad who loved the things. He had a plateful when on 'the menu', not liking meat or veg'.
