The one on the right is a presta insert.

As above the one on the right is Presta

but also Schrader ones can differ - but only in the seal
some are designed for different environments
I think it is temperature and pressure related

or at least I think I read that somewhere
the difference is in the colour of the rubber (?) seal and not size or anything

no idea which bikes should use!

Too much messing, and my life is too short. Did OP buy "Continental" tubes. Don't.

Vittoria ultralight or Decathlon own make cheap ones - work well, don't fail etc.

I got a pack of them for just about naff all a while ago

I generally squeeze out all the Slime (or the cheap version of it anyway) once a year and to do that you need to take out the valve core after you put fresh in

not worth putting the old one back in for the cost of the cores

WHat patches do people use??

I have tried several self adhesive and they are OK for getting you home

but they come upstuck pretty soon

I always used to use ones that came with rubber solution when I was younger
then got a wad of the things and a large tube of the solution and that lasted me for years and the patches always stuck and stayed stuck

but nowadays I only see "feather edge" patches and I have not found any that last and they are very fragile and often rip when I try to get them off the backing

I am looking in the wrong place

I asked at the LBS and he said he doesn;t bother and just puts a new tube in
