i had a fall from a roof 15 years ago, felt fine once i got my wind back and went back to work. about a month after the event, my left leg started to go numb. went to the docs and was rushed straight to hospital. turned out i had broken my back. i was very lucky as after some fairly major surgery the feeling gradually came back. though still have a slightly weaker left leg. so think its straight to docs for you. oh, and good luck.

I had this several years ago and went to my local chiropractor. After just one visit there was a remarkable improvement and after three it had almost vanished. Cost was £24 a visit but well worth it in my view. I would certainly recommend this sort of treatment for back problems.

I've had this on and off for about 5 years now,I was repairing a tumble drier
in someones kitchen, just leaning on the top to undo a screw on the rear when
"twang" something went and I couldn't move,Luckily the customer was a chronic
back pain sufferer and had a front room full of various painkillers, she dosed me up
with something and it eased off enough for me to get home, went to a+e next day as it
was no better and they dosed me up with diclofenac and temazepam.

This reoccurs 2 or 3 times a year, they have never been able to tell me exactly what
it is,but when it does happen I'm unable to move for around an hour due to the pain.

I got so sick of it last year I kept asking to see a specialist,He didn't know what it was
either,He sent me for physio, which turned out to be me doing exercises at home,
They do seem to help tho, still get the odd day with niggling pains but nothing compared
to what I've had to endure in the past.

Don't mess about get yourself to A+E pronto

iv just been to a+e and they just gave me co codamol ! so you reckon the chiro thing is worth it ?il need to investigate ,its defo worth it if it works

as a long term sufferer. (degenerative discs ,trapped nerves sciatica etc ) my advice is ask your gp to refer you for an mri scan and to a neurologist . i left it for ages ,im now waiting to have three discs removed and vertabrae pinned together . im NOT saying you have anything as bad as that but it needs sorting before any lasting damage is done:thumbsup:

A cheaper alternative is to do what I did (albeit inadvertantly) when I had sciatica.

Crash into something like a tree (yeah, I know...). Didn't half cure the sciatica, it jarred my back, er, back!

Dislaimer: Perplexed is not seriously recommending this course of action... Seriously, get it looked at properly.
